The Comfort Of Portable Ice Fishing
Houses
There's only one real way to fish on ice and that's with
portable ice fishing houses. While by it’s nature
ice fishing is not going to be a warm sport, who wants to sit
outside in winds that are below freezing with possible snow
falling. No one. This takes what could have been an enjoyable sport
and turns it into a game of figuring out how to survive the
elements.
While many lakes have their own ice fishing houses you can rent
out, some don't and others may have them all rented out by the time
you arrive for your fishing day. It's best to have you own ice
fishing house on hand.
Sure you could construct your own, but that would be time
consuming, and very heavy, locking you in to one fishing hole for
the day. Instead, consider portable ice fishing houses. Many think
these are going to be too heavy to be moved around as well. But
with new lightweight materials on the market, they are much easier
to move than you think and will give you much more flexibility on
the ice.
Portable ice fishing houses are also perfect for those who like
to vary their fishing schedule. You may not be after one type of
fish all day long. At the same time you know that the fish you want
are in different areas. With a portable house you can switch
locations, house and all, with little to no hassle and catch all
the kinds of fish you were hoping for.
It's also good to know that if the fish aren't biting where you
are now that you can move to where they are and have a way to be
protected from the biting cold. Think of the old options. You could
stay in your house and hope that a fish or two would straggle your
way, and possibly go home empty handed, or you could make a new
hole, somewhere else on the ice, and run back to your ice fishing
house to warm up once in a while.
Now that you know this is what you want, you need to decide what
type of house you need. There are a number of things to take into
account. First is your height, or the height of the tallest person
who will be using it. Next, you need to know how many of you will
be in the house. If it's just you, you will be able to get a small
portable ice fishing house, but if there are three or four of you,
you're going to need more space.
Once you know what you want and need much of the rest will be up
to personal preferences. From structures that look much like a
camping tent that can fitted with a propane heater inside, to a box
like pop-up shelter that has lined walls, there are a variety of
portable ice fishing houses to choose from to
create a fishing home away from home on the ice.
