Ice Fishing Houses

An ice fishing house is a permanent or semi-permanent house. There are several types of ice fishing houses, which all differ from ice fishing shelters (which are more portable).

Ice Fishing House

On the other end of the spectrum from an ice fishing shelter is an ice fishing house. A permanent ice fishing house is one that is constructed on the ice or is hauled out on a trailer, and slowly lowered or slid onto the ice.

A semi-permanent ice fishing house is one that has it's own wheels which are cranked up, thus lowering the house onto the ice. This accommodates up to four people and is completely portable as well. In addition to the aluminum frame and sled floor, and similar to the above ice fishing shelter, it has an extra large ice area for your locater and heater; a wide size which allows ice fishing on both sides of the sled; extra head room; clear windows and is as quick and easy to set up as the shelter. The ice fishing houses start at $500.00, and depending upon the number in your party, you can be quite comfortable.

Whether you choose a shelter or a house, there is a variety of ice fishing shelters/ice fishing houses which will suit your needs perfectly. Be sure to check online as well as the state in which you are ice fishing, to determine if a shelter is required or permanent housing is available. Read the rules and regulations as it pertains to the use of either shelter within each state.
